SDH at DDX 2023 in Munich

On May 6, 2023, Alla Kovshova, Marketing Director at SDH, and Daria Kyrychenko, UX/UI designer, attended the DDX conference in Munich.

The event aimed to bring together the 400+ brightest design minds under the roof of the Munich Urban Colab to explore current trends, techniques, and approaches of digital and industrial design. DDX, organized by Design Drives and led by Digital Product School, kicked off a series of the Munich Creative Business Week events. 

DDX 2023 — the conference on the impact of design

The speeches and workshops were held under the umbrella of sustainability goals. In general, the design industry remains in a position of human-centrism. As Sebastian Gier pointed out, designers have more tools than ever to create Impact and make the world designable. 

Barbara Franz, Director of Brand & Experience Design at Avi Medical, created a short performance with her family, discussing the secrets of a successful UX in health tech. Marko Thorhauer, Executive Creative Director at IBM iX, put IBM's creative hub in the spotlight, and Felix van de Sand, Co-Founder & Kickbase at COBE, explained the mental accesses in designing interfaces. 

Many speakers voiced concern about the AI tools boom. However, all presentations highlighted the role of the designer's talent and personality in the process of creating new things.

Overall, the conference dealt with fairly general issues rather than specific tutorials; nevertheless, DDX is worth attending to get motivated and inspired. This was the first time the SDH team was in Munich, Alla and Daria also had the opportunity to enjoy the atmosphere of Munich, the live shows, and the networking.
